Who are we?
Lynne O’Keeffe-Lascar and Anna Jeffrey Gibson are both passionate about growing and cooking their own food. Anna recently discovered that she is a fourth generation gardener which maybe helps to explain the irresistible urge to grow plants. Brought up in Dublin with a science degree from TCD, a postgraduate degree in Geology and higher diploma in education from University College Galway she is married and has been living and farming in Kinvara, Co. Galway for more than ten years. Life revolves around helping husband Ivan to build a house, farm an Aberdeen Angus suckler herd, establish a garden and orchard, keep chickens, ducks, donkeys, ponies, dogs and cats and teach part-time. She is also known locally as the author of the ‘Muddy Boots & Green Fingers’ gardening column in the Ad. Mag. - a lifestyle, events and business magazine for the West of Ireland.
Lynn holds a National Certificate in Horticulture in organic commercial vegetable production and has wide experience in market gardening. Married to Nico she has 3 children and is the powerhouse behind the Doorus Orchard project and community garden in the walled garden at Doorus House Án Óige Hostel. The garden dates back to 1866 and was in a neglected state. In conjunction with Án Óige and with the support of the Heritage Council the Doorus Orchard Project was launched in 2004.
